Mehdi Nikan

Mehdi Nikan was born in The Kurdistan region of Iran. He began studying classical Persian calligraphy (Nasta‘liq and Shekasteh Nasta‘liq), at an early age and earned distinction from the Iran Calligraphers Association. With a background in civil engineering, his art bridges precision and poetry, form and flow.
‐-----------‐--------------------------------------Mehdi Nikan nació en la región del Kurdistán iraní. Desde muy joven estudió caligrafía persa clásica (Nasta‘liq y Shekasteh Nasta‘liq) y obtuvo un reconocimiento de la Asociación de Calígrafos de Irán. Con formación en ingeniería civil, su arte fusiona precisión y poesía, forma y fluidez.

Influenced by Zen philosophy and his experiences working with children, his work invites contemplation and stillness. Each piece begins with a single word, unfolding into fluid lines and organic structures that embody both discipline and freedom.
The graceful curves of Persian script lie at the heart of his process. His art speaks the language of movement — where letters become gestures, and silence shapes meaning — echoing the ancient idea that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was Light...
‐------------------‐‐------------------------------Influenciado por la filosofía zen y su experiencias trabajando con niños, su obra invita a la contemplación y la quietud. Cada pieza comienza con una sola palabra, que se despliega en líneas fluidas y estructuras orgánicas que encarnan tanto disciplina como libertad.
Las elegantes curvas de la escritura persa son la esencia de su proceso creativo. Su arte habla el lenguaje del movimiento, donde las letras se convierten en gestos y el silencio da forma al significado, haciéndose eco de la antigua idea de que en el principio era la Palabra, y la Palabra era Luz…

Since 2021, Mehdi has lived on the island of La Gomera, where the closeness to nature deepens his belief that art is part of life’s continuous rhythm of creation.
‐--------------------------------------------------Desde 2021, Mehdi reside en la isla de La Gomera, donde la cercanía con la naturaleza profundiza su convicción de que el arte forma parte del continuo ritmo creativo de la vida.
